For the Chalet Aux Losanges in the Swiss Grisons, the studio Caruso St. John designed a space entirely covered by a black-and-white diamond pattern — losanges — that gives the building its name and identity. Into this graphic, contemporary context come the Rezzonico chandeliers in scarlet-red Venetian glass, made to measure: a choice that brings the classic — the baroque opulence of curved arms and flowers — into rigorous modern geometry. Two languages that clash and hold together, warming the black and white with colour.
