— IN DEPTH

Venetian lanterns belong to the classic repertoire of lagoon lighting: blown glass shaped inside a wrought-iron cage takes on a segmented bulb form, light and luminous, that has accompanied Venetian interiors for centuries as an element on the border between ornament and architecture.

For a residence near Tilburg, the client selected two lanterns in an aquamarine tone, tuned to the living room's palette and installed either side of a passage. The soft colour of the glass filters the light with marine reflections, conversing with the blue velvet sofas and the diffused light of northern Europe.
