— IN DEPTH

The monumental staircase of the Archiepiscopal Seminary of Milan, at Venegono Inferiore, was lit by historic lamps whose glass bell shades had been partly lost. The intervention concerned the reconstruction of the missing parts: the amethyst colour was recalibrated against the surviving original shades, so that all the lights in the sequence would return to coherence.

To reproduce the exact form of the antique shades, a dedicated cold mould was made to measure for this project alone. Each element is blown inside the mould, replicating the historic geometry with today's craft.
